The domain name www.WeAreFeelingLucky.com is a play on the “I’m Feeling Lucky” button that appears under Google’s search bar.
We want to showcase some of the functionality that Google Sites and their multiple plug in applications have to offer. This site was totally free and it only took one ignoramus half of a night to complete (after a fine local homebrewer bought our url). How cool are these guys for making web tools that are free and this easy to use? (yes, we're shameless suck ups)
We needed to organize and orchestrate some fun, cool, creative ways to showcase:
1.) Our community's support for Google Fiber.
2.) Why Greenville is the best choice in the US for Google to test 100+ times faster ultra-highspeed broadband.
3.) How amazing the products and services offered by Google truly are (seriously, if Google was a city it would be Greenville- that's how cool they are).
4.) Have a single, (semi) coherent framework where people can find out more about "We Are Feeling Lucky," "Google on Main," and Google Fiber.
5.) Because we wanted to make sure nobody in our city makes an ass of all of us by "renaming" our city Google for one month or renaming our first born Google/ette. Please report any such plans to us immediately so that the guilty parties can be immediately extradited to Kansas.
We’re citizens of Greenville, SC just like you. We live here, work here, and love it here– and we want to see to it that Google Fiber becomes part of our community.
