We’ll make this short and sweet.

Admittedly, we were a little late to the game. When we first got together to discuss your open call for Google Fiber a couple of weeks before the official March 26 deadline, we decided we probably needed to get moving.  

So what to do? Well, for starters, we wanted the discussion to be about you, not us. That’s why we built our entire website with just a few of the amazingly useful, simple, and free services that you guys have spent years researching, developing, and perfecting (plus we all love them and use them in our everyday lives anyway).

We get you. You’re smart. Wicked smart (in a don’t be evil kinda way). You have big dreams and a grand vision for what could be, and you’re not content with the way that things are right now. Creating a better world and a better future is what gets you excited. Because of that, you’ve done insanely amazing things that have benefited all of humanity in the 12 years since you were born- and you’re just getting started. We love that about you (sorry there’s just no way to be “neutral” about our feelings on the issue).

We also wanted to throw a people-powered party in the heart of our city in your honor– a party that no other city in the country could have pulled off in under two weeks. Because no other city has what we’ve got here: government officials, global businesses, creative entrepreneurs, and engaged citizens that understand the important role that we each play as an integral part of this thriving and healthy ecosystem- and we know how to work together as a team when things that matter have to get done.  

So Google On Main is our way of saying thanks: thanks for what you do, thanks for making the world a better place, and thanks for considering Greenville, SC for Google Fiber.

And if you let us know two weeks before you decide to bring Google Fiber here, we’ll make it work for you. Then we can keep making history together.
